PERCHE’ LA DANZA? | INCONTRI A CURA DI GABRIELLA RICCIO E MAURIZIO ZANARDI | L’ASILO | DA OTTOBRE 2017

Meetings on dance and philosophy – “Why dance? Why ‘occupy’ the spaces of L’Asilo with insistence and continuity to think with the greatest possible rigor the relevance and necessity of dancing? Why such urgency and privilege assigned to dance? Why would dance be a question in question?”

LA FOLLIA

There is no madness except as the supreme instant of the work, and the latter rejects it indefinitely to its borders: where there is work there is no madness …The instant when the work and madness are born together is the time when the world finds itself cited in judgment by this work and responsible for what is before it

MAGNIFICAT – PRIMO STUDIO PER UN MONDO MIGLIORE

Perhaps what artists can do today is to be foolish, foolish with crazy hope, foolish with love. Magnificat is the first word that Mary pronounces meeting Elisabeth. Magnificat embodies her trust and mad hope. It is Parsifal hero of compassion. It is humanity walking forward.

NOLI ME TANGERE

evocative and powerful, a sophisticated minimal performance for incarnate sound and sounding bodies. A physical score generated through the use of a sensitive sound environment applied to the peroformance. Messages from philosophy, poetry, literature intersect around body, intimacy, touch, in a tension between eros and thanathos, human and divine.

Echo Resonance and Memory by Gabriella Riccio

ECHO RESONANCE AND MEMORY

To investigate the possibilities for choreographic and compositional concepts of echo and resonance though a repeated use of the image multiplied to go further and reach a visionary body/movement. The dancing body remains subject of the earth, yet in its  matter it may glimpse as poetic–body.

K.I.S.S.#1 – ABOUT FRAGILITY

A constantly changing space and sound environment on the theme of fragility. A non-affirmative dance, without defined boundaries to be permeable to perception and power of the space. Iinterested in vulnerability, the subtle tension arising from insecurity, the poetry of a fragile movement. Six blindfolded non–dancers on stage in a rigorous conceptual performance.
